„Pokarm (smak, kolor, zapach, tekstura, dźwięk i temperatura) wydał mi się cztery lata temu fascynującym sposobem kontynuowania wątku rozwijanego przeze mnie w sztuce od 20 lat. Wszystko to, co ma związek z jedzeniem, a więc i jego nieodłącznymi towarzyszami: głodem i postem, obyczajem, nawykiem, tradycją, prawem, formalną etykietą, boskim rytuałem, nakazem i zakazem, trucizną i tabu, ma kontekst społeczny. Wreszcie to, co wiąże się z konsumpcją i resztkami po „uczcie” – tego używam dziś zamiast dotychczasowego języka rysunku.”

Dyplom na Wydziale Malarstwa ASP Gdańsk w 1993 roku, tytuł naukowy profesora nadany przez Prezydenta Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej – 2018, doktorat w roku 2000, po uzyskaniu w 2010 roku tytułu doktora habilitowanego prowadzi Czwartą Pracownię Rysunku. W latach 2001–2003 uczyła w kilku pracowniach na wydziałach Sztuki i Projektowania Graficznego Bilkent University w Ankarze, od 2013 wykłada przedmiot Kształt Smaku w School of Form w Poznaniu. Oddana monumentalnemu rysunkowi i instalacji, zdarza się, że pisze. Autorka wielu wystaw indywidualnych, brała udział w ponad stu wystawach zbiorowych w kraju i za granicą, swoje prace pokazywała m.in. w Nowym Jorku, Stambule, Ankarze, Kilonii, Brukseli, na międzynarodowych festiwalach sztuki współczesnej, w Muzeum POLIN, w opuszczonym sklepie mięsnym w Sopocie, refektarzu Zakonu Kartuzów, oliwskim lesie, pustym mieszkaniu na krakowskim Salwatorze. Na przełomie 2018/19 pracowała nad scenografią do dramatu według powieści Alexandra Dumasa: „Die Bartholomäusnacht” w Theater Freiburg w Niemczech. Współautorka, redaktorka naukowa i współwydawczyni monografii naukowej „Międzyjęzyk” analizującej wątek użycia pokarmu jako medium w sztuce współczesnej, food arcie, sztuce relacyjnej w polu malarstwa, antropologii, historii sztuki. Laureatka nagród rektorskich za osiągnięcia artystyczne i pedagogiczne, dwukrotnie stypendystka miasta Sopot oraz Marszałka Województwa. Laureatka nagrody Prezydenta Miasta Gdańska za 25 i 30 lat pracy twórczej oraz Muzy Sopotu w dziedzinie Kultury i Sztuki 2019, nominowana do tytułu Człowieka Roku w Kulturze 2019 i 2020 (Pomorskie Sztormy 2019 i 2020), nominacja finałowa do nagrody Splendor Gedanensis 2020. W 2019 wyróżniona odznaką Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej.

"Food (taste, colour, smell, texture, sound and temperature) seemed to me four years ago a fascinating way of continuing the thread developed by me in the art for 20 years. Everything that has to do with food and its inherent companions: hunger and fasting, customs, habit, tradition, law, formal etiquette, divine ritual, command and prohibition, poison and taboo, has a social context. Finally, what is associated with consumption and leftovers from the "feast" is what I use today instead of the current drawing language."

Graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk in 1993. She was awarded the academic title of Professor by the President of the Republic of Poland in 2018. She received her PhD in 2000 and, after obtaining the habilitated doctorate in 2010, she has been leading the Fourth Drawing Studio. Between 2001 and 2003, she taught in several studios at the Faculties of Art and Graphic Design at Bilkent University in Ankara. Since 2013, she has been teaching the course The Shape of Taste at the School of Form in Poznań.

Dedicated to monumental drawing and installation, she occasionally writes. The author of numerous solo exhibitions, she has participated in over one hundred group exhibitions both in Poland and abroad. Her works have been presented in cities including New York, Istanbul, Ankara, Kiel, and Brussels, at international contemporary art festivals, at the POLIN Museum, in an abandoned butcher shop in Sopot, in the refectory of the Carthusian Monastery, in the forest of Oliwa, and in a vacant apartment in Kraków’s Salwator district. At the turn of 2018–2019, she worked on the stage design for a drama based on Alexandre Dumas’s novel Die Bartholomäusnacht at Theater Freiburg in Germany.

She is co-author, scientific editor, and co-publisher of the scholarly monograph Międzyjęzyk, which analyzes the use of food as a medium in contemporary art, food art, and relational art in the fields of painting, anthropology, and art history.

She has received rector’s awards for artistic and pedagogical achievements, and has been twice granted scholarships by the city of Sopot and the Marshal of the Voivodeship. She was awarded the President of Gdańsk City Prize for 25 and 30 years of creative work, as well as the Sopot Muse Prize in Culture and Art (2019). She was nominated for Culture Person of the Year 2019 and 2020 (Pomorskie Sztormy 2019 and 2020) and was a finalist for the Splendor Gedanensis Award in 2020. In 2019, she was honored with the Meritorious for Polish Culture badge.
