„Pirografia to dla mnie forma samotnej kontemplacji i alchemicznej pracy. Perforacja będąca efektem działania ognia pozwala na przenikanie światła i umożliwia uwypuklenie ulotności i nieobecności, które są dla mnie ważne. Metoda ta jest bardzo pierwotna i organiczna. Również zapach przywołuje pamięć o cieple ognia. Doceniam wagę związku ognia i popiołu i ich relacji z przemijalnością. Moje prace zawsze związane są z papierem i mają charakter osobisty. Bardzo o to dbam i jestem przekonana, że to właśnie „papier-nożyce-ogień-światło” oddają czulej niż inne narzędzia – na wzór sejsmografu czy wariografu – moje stany emocjonalne. W ten sposób rysują się mapy topograficzne moich stanów wewnętrznych, kształtuje się rodzaj wymazywanego pamiętnika.”
Zuzanna Seweryna Dolega (Zuza Dolega) – ur. w 1990 roku w Gdyni, gdzie mieszka i tworzy w dziedzinie sztuk wizualnych. Zajmuje się pirografią, rysunkiem, kolażem, poezją, instalacjami artystycznymi, tkaniną i projekcjami analogowymi.
Absolwentka, doktora, adiunkta i asystentka Wydziału Malarstwa ASP w Gdańsku. Prowadząca zajęcia na podyplomowych studiach Arteterapii w Gdańsku.
Od 2012 roku specjalizuje się w technice pirografii, którą łączy głównie ze sztuką papieru, tkaniną artystyczną, instalacjami typu site specific. Tworzy również monumentalne instalacje-wycinanki, kolaże, dzieła w duchu asemic writing, blackout i redacted poetry. W poszukiwaniach twórczych zajmują ją także zagadnienia z dziedzin takich jak neuroestetyka i synestezja w sztuce.
Uczestniczka wielu wystaw i projektów artystyczno-badawczych o zasięgu krajowym i międzynarodowym. Jej prace były prezentowane i znajdują się w kolekcjach między innymi w: Polsce, Niemczech, Danii, Macedonii, Turcji, Tunezji, Japonii, Chinach, Australii, Argentynie, Ekwadorze. Członkini prestiżowego, międzynarodowego stowarzyszenia twórców sztuki papieru IAPMA. Laureatka stypendiów i nagród, w tym Nagrody Miasta Gdańska dla Młodych Twórców w Dziedzinie Kultury za rok 2020 i nagrody paper positions berlin 2025 dla najlepszej twórczyni sztuki papieru.
Prowadząca warsztaty, prelekcje, wykłady z dziedziny kolażu, współpracująca z ośrodkami kultury i sztuki, między innymi: GAK Plama, Gdańska Galeria Miejska, Halo Kultura, ASP w Gdańsku, Wikimedia Polska, Dom Spotkań z Historią, FINA, Dom Kultury Praga.

“Pyrography, for me, is a form of solitary contemplation and alchemical work. The perforation created by the action of fire allows light to pass through and makes it possible to highlight transience and absence, which are important to me. This method is very primal and organic. The smell also evokes the memory of the warmth of fire. I value the significance of the relationship between fire and ash and their connection with impermanence. My works are always connected with paper and have a personal character. I care deeply about this and I am convinced that it is precisely ‘paper–scissors–fire–light’ that, more tenderly than other tools, capture my emotional states – like a seismograph or a polygraph. In this way, topographic maps of my inner states emerge, forming a kind of erased diary.”
Zuzanna Seweryna Dolega (Zuza Dolega) – born in 1990 in Gdynia, where she lives and works in the field of visual arts. She works with pyrography, drawing, collage, poetry, artistic installations, textiles, and analog projections. She is a graduate, PhD holder, assistant professor, and teaching assistant at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She also teaches at the postgraduate Art Therapy program in Gdańsk.
Since 2012, she has specialized in the technique of pyrography, which she primarily combines with paper art, artistic textiles, and site-specific installations. She also creates monumental cut-out installations, collages, and works in the spirit of asemic writing, blackout poetry, and redacted poetry. In her artistic research, she is also interested in topics such as neuroaesthetics and synesthesia in art.
She has participated in numerous exhibitions and artistic-research projects at both national and international levels. Her works have been presented and are included in collections in countries including Poland, Germany, Denmark, North Macedonia, Turkey, Tunisia, Japan, China, Australia, Argentina, and Ecuador.
She is a member of the prestigious international association of paper artists IAPMA (International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists). She is the recipient of several scholarships and awards, including the City of Gdańsk Award for Young Creators in Culture (2020) and the paper positions berlin 2025 award for the best paper artist.
She conducts workshops, talks, and lectures in the field of collage, collaborating with cultural and art institutions such as GAK Plama, Gdańska Galeria Miejska, Halo Kultura, the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Wikimedia Polska, the House of Meetings with History, FINA, and Dom Kultury Praga.
The artist is represented by Molski Gallery, Poznań.
In her free time she runs, pets dogs, and reads (in any order).
