„W mojej pracy zawodowej – zarówno jako nauczyciel akademicki, jak i osoba wykonująca wolny zawód – stawiam na kreatywność, zaangażowanie, szacunek i otwartość do otaczającego nas świata oraz pracę zespołową. Zawsze łączę teorię z praktyką oraz w sposób elastyczny korzystam zarówno z tradycyjnych, jak i współczesnych narzędzi analitycznych i projektowych. Dbam o to, aby projekty, w których uczestniczę, nie były przypadkowe a wynikały z potrzeb oraz składały się na długofalowe i przemyślane strategie i przedsięwzięcia, służące poprawie jakości przestrzeni: miejskich, jak i pozamiejskich. Ważne jest przy tym dla mnie sięgnięcie do historii, tradycji i żywej pamięci ludzkiej, jako z jednej strony inkubatorów lokalnych tożsamości, a z drugiej – inspiracji do wzbogacania danych krajobrazów kulturowych o nowe, wartościowe i współczesne zespoły i elementy architektoniczne.”
Dr inż. arch. Marek Z. Barański – architekt i archeolog oddany wzmacnianiu tożsamości lokalnej oraz ochronie i popularyzacji dziedzictwa kulturowego. Jest inicjatorem lub uczestnikiem wielu projektów lokalnych i międzynarodowych o charakterze rewitalizacyjnym lub badawczym, które realizowane są zarówno w Polsce, jak i za granicą. Pracuje na Bliskim Wschodzie – m.in. na stanowiskach UNESCO: Al Zubarah w Katarze oraz Çatalhöyük i Göbekli Tepe w Turcji – odsłaniając, dokumentując i rekonstruując zabytki dawnej architektury tak, aby stawały się one na nowo ważną częścią życia społeczno-kulturowego danego regionu. Jest zaangażowany w prace inwentaryzacyjne, dokumentujące dziedzictwo śródmiejskich, choć zapomnianych obszarów miast historycznych. Realizuje i promuje także działania koncepcyjno-projektowe oraz społeczne na rzecz rewaloryzacji i adaptacji historycznych budynków i zespołów architektonicznych Dolnego Miasta, Oruni i Wisłoujścia w Gdańsku tak, aby służyły one współczesnym i przyszłym pokoleniom.

"In my professional work – both as an academic teacher and a freelancer – I focus on creativity, commitment, respect and openness to the world around us and teamwork. I always combine theory and practice, and I use both traditional and modern analytical and design tools flexibly. I make sure that the projects I participate in are not accidental but result from the needs and make up long-term and well-thought-out strategies and plans aimed at improving the quality of urban and non-urban spaces. It is important for me to refer to the history, tradition and vivid human memory as, on the one hand, incubators of local identities, and on the other hand – inspiration to enrich given cultural landscapes with new, valuable and contemporary architectural ensembles and elements."
Dr inż. arch. Marek Z. Barański – an architect and archaeologist devoted to strengthening the local identity and protecting and popularizing the cultural heritage. He is the initiator or participant of many local and international revitalization or research projects that are implemented both in Poland and abroad. He works in the Middle East – including the UNESCO sites: Al Zubarah in Qatar and Çatalhöyük and Göbekli Tepe in Turkey – revealing, documenting and reconstructing monuments of ancient architecture so that they become an essential part of the socio-cultural life of the region again. He is involved in inventory work documenting the heritage of downtown, though forgotten areas of historic cities. He also implements and promotes conceptual, design and social activities for the revaluation and adaptation of historical buildings and architectural complexes of the Lower Town, Orunia and Wisłoujście in Gdańsk so that they serve the contemporary and future generations.
