To one bardziej mnie inspirują niż najnowsze trendy w designie.

W latach (2012-2016) Prorektor ds. Kształcenia i Spraw Studenckich gdańskiej ASP, od 2014 profesor tytularny. W 2001 roku założył wraz z żoną Beatą Szymańską biuro projektowe STUDIO 1:1, w którym razem z innymi projektantami realizuje projekty z zakresu wzornictwa przemysłowego, architektury oraz wystawiennictwa. Jest laureatem wielu nagród w konkursach międzynarodowych i krajowych.

"I'm fascinated by the works of anonymous designers, craftsmen and manufacturers. What impresses me the most, is the simplicity and functionality of their creations, qualities that stay unchanged in their logic and form for decades. They inspire me far more than the latest trends in art. Following in the footsteps of anonymous creators, I seek clear structure in the objects I design, as well as uncomplicated relationships between structure and function. The point most people associate with design – the form, I reach at the end; it's never the beginning to me, rather the finale."

Jarosław Szymański was Born in Rypin (Poland) in 1963. A graduate of PWSSP (currently ASP) in Gdańsk, he received his MFA in 1991 at the Faculty of Architecture and Design under the supervision of Professor Jacek Popek. He stayed at his alma mater to pursue his further academic career where he's been working since 1991 as a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture and Industrial Design. In the years (2012-2016) he served as the Vice-Rector for Education and Student Affairs at the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, in 2014 he was awarded a full professorship.

In 2001, with his wife Beata Szymańska he set up a design office, STUDIO 1:1, in which, together with a team of designers, they develop and execute projects in the fields of industrial design, architecture and exhibition. He is a laureate of many awards in international and national competitions. In 2019, the Institute of Industrial Design awarded him the Designer of the Year award.
